Goals

The goal of this project is to develop, implement, self-study, and institutionalize a University of Texas System AGEP career pathway model that provides

  1. Organizational change around policies and procedures for recruitment and hiring of, and
  2. Collaborative mentoring & sponsorship for success of diverse doctoral candidates, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty members across the UT System academic institutions.

We will implement an evidence-based UT System AGEP model focused on developing STEM participants at UT System academic institutions at different stages of their careers.  We will organize cohorts of participants at three distinct career stages: advanced doctoral candidates, postdoctoral associates, and tenure-track junior faculty with the following objectives.

Objectives

  1. Provide inclusive mentoring and sponsorship for all participants around networking opportunities to:
    • Create a sense of belonging
    • Provide collegial spaces to address experiences that adversely affect participants
    • Make available opportunities to learn tools for success to support the maturing of STEM identities
  2. Study the effectiveness of the UT System AGEP model for advancement in each of the three career stages and disseminate results state-wide and nationally
  3. Promote cultural and policy changes at each participating institution to create an ecosystem supportive of the professional development of participants
  4. Improve and refine the AGEP model for deployment in the alliance via formative and summative analysis

Broader Impacts for UT System Participants
